Inclined plane

The small one runs in giggles down the slope of the accessible ramp at the entrance of the coffeeshop,
a distance, which in their newly discovered steps, may as well be the length of an entire meadow,
and then runs back up the hill to meet their mother
with an excitement that bursts into the purest laughter
upon the discovery that running uphill feels different than downhill.
Like any good explorer, they reproduce the findings
with more running down and then up, accompanied by more laughter,
and finally return to hold the comforting hand with satisfaction,
perhaps wondering what other discoveries await them in this bright world yet.
