Cat geometry

A cat is sometimes convex
and sometimes concave.

Their mood measured by their shape,
they rarely brook an argument
as to which way they may bend.

A cat’s geometry is declarative.

Sometimes, an outstretched cat
becomes locally flat
—a belly spread over an unlikely expanse,
fur meadows for a lengthy pet.

An elongated cat wakes up
to a long gait,
one insistent paw
deliberately extending beyond their reach
while the hind leg still passes through
a veil of time dilation.

A cat may not arrive all at once.

But if they choose to,
a cat is sudden.
