An avalanche of bodies ends up how we greet one another,
despite intentions of witty conversation over dinner and public charm.
Mouths, hands, nipples, and urgent muscles take over,
a wordless coup over the best laid plans of civility
as we fail to make out of the door
to simply make out
and into the familiar hunger-thirst for one another,
tongues too occupied to utter “I missed you”, rather than demonstrate it.
There will be time for food and banter later.
But for now, time pauses between one mouth and the other.
